Arlington, Va., native Sandra Bullock has listed her home on Georgia’s Tybee Island for $6.5 million. Bullock purchased the three-acre property in 2001 for $1.495 million, according to property records. The home comes fully furnished, with the exception of a few personal items, said co-listing agent Ruthie Lynah Whitlow, who has listed the property with Rachel Umbreit, both of Sotheby’s International Realty.
Bullock’s breakthrough role came in 1994, when she starred in the movie “Speed.” Before that, she had smaller roles in films such as “Demolition Man” and “Wrestling Ernest Hemingway.” She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in 2009′s “The Blind Side” and was once listed as the highest-paid actress in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records. Other notable film roles include “Crash,” “Miss Congeniality” and “Hope Floats.” Bullock is also known for her philanthropy, including donating millions of dollars after major humanitarian crises, such as the 2004 tsunami in Asia and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
The estate is equipped with a 3,360-square-foot four-bedroom main house and a 2,800-square-foot guesthouse, which comes fully furnished. The property includes nine parcels of land, three of which are vacant, buildable lots, according to the agent. One side of the land looks out onto a basin that feeds into the Savannah River, often referred to as “the Road to Savannah.”
“There are a lot of shrimp boats that coast along, which causes a lot of activity in terms of the marine life,” said Whitlow. “The dolphins love that mouth of the river, so on any given day, you can see dolphins easily.”
The master bedroom on the main level comes with an adjacent room containing a claw-foot bathtub. A breakfast bar bridges the space between the kitchen and the dining room.
The property also comes with a pool, basketball court, indoor gym and private access to the beach.
